This six-cylinder engine codenamed "Hurricane" has a small displacement, but the torque comes like a madman. The air suspension is as soft as floating on a cloud in comfort mode, but once it switches to sports mode, it immediately becomes tight and resilient. The steering feel is no longer the fuzzy feeling "through cotton gloves" of the old model, but has a clear feedback-although it is not as accurate as the BMW X5, at least you can know what the front wheels are doing. When cornering, the roll control of the body is much better than expected. This car is not light! Maybe it's because the Hurricane engine is lighter than the V8, so the front of the car is less cumbersome? Anyway, it drives like a boxing ballerina-violent and elegant.

Interior: The sense of technology burst, but the plastic parts are still laughing at you

Sitting in the car, two large screens almost blinded me. The 10.25-inch dashboard UI design is very trendy, displaying so much information that you doubt life, and you can even see the turbocharger value. The smoothness of the central control screen is at least three times higher than that of the previous generation, and the CarPlay wireless connection has almost no delay. The Nappa leather of the seats is comfortable to the touch, and the front row is equipped with heated, ventilated and massages. But! When you look away from the screen, pay attention to the door panels and the lower edge of the center console-those hard plastic again, and the seams are not very uniform. Jeep, you spend all your energy on the engine and the screen, right? However, considering that this car can take you to have fun in the wild, I reluctantly put up with the "rough" interior.

Cross-country ability? Still the tough guy who can climb rocks

Do you think that by replacing the small-displacement engine, this guy will become an urban puppet? I think too much. I drove it onto a rocky slope. When I hung on the low-speed four-wheel drive mode, the electronic differential lock clicked, and the approach angle and departure angle were very large. After the chassis was raised to the highest level, the stones were like small stones. Run over easily. The biggest surprise is the response of this Hurricane engine at low torque-it's almost as powerful as a diesel engine. When climbing a mountain, you can steadily lift you up without deliberately turning up the speed. To be honest, the smoothness and lightness of this engine make the lazy V8 of the old model seem a bit outdated. The only complaint when off-road is that the knob of the terrain selection system is a bit far back and it is uncomfortable to reach.

Anxiety? That doesn't exist-fuel consumption is okay

I drove about 200 kilometers the entire test drive, a mixture of urban, high-speed and off-road. Finally, the comprehensive fuel consumption is 13.5L/100km. For an SUV with more than 2 tons and more than 400 horsepower, this performance already makes me laugh. You know, the old V8 will go for the 18L if you just step on it. Of course, if you keep stepping on Hurricane's accelerator to the bottom, fuel consumption will rise rapidly, but you won't do that-because the feeling of pushing back is so good, you will only indulge occasionally. Moreover, the 48V light hybrid system helps a lot during start-stop and low-speed coasting. Although it cannot drive purely electric, it also makes the acceleration response smoother.

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee uses a new engine that makes old-school fans struggle to create its own style. It has both the wildness of a traditional Jeep, the exquisiteness of a modern SUV, and occasionally the agility of a European car. But if you have to find shortcomings: interior materials are still compromised, the third row of space is barely enough to accommodate children (don't expect your 1.8-meter friend at home to sit in the back), and the brand-new Uconnect system occasionally responds slowly. Half a beat. But so what? When you turn the mode to Sport, step on the accelerator, and hear the Hurricane scream that tears the air, all complaints will turn into a swear word: "Holy shit, it smells so good."
