First glance-does this thing really look like this?

To be honest, when I first saw the official picture of the 2026 Nexo, I was stunned for two seconds. Isn't this design too…radical? The split headlight and the front lip that almost touches the ground make the entire front face look like a yawning deep-sea fish. But the strange thing is that after looking at it for a long time, I actually feel a little handsome-not the traditional good-looking, but the arrogance of "I know I am different". Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are already niche enough, but Hyundai simply turned the appearance into performance art. Okay, I'm impressed. Driving on the street, the rate of turning heads is definitely exploding, which is even more eye-catching than the Porsche Taycan.

Get in the car-full of technology, but where are the buttons?

The interior is what makes me truly "wow". As soon as you sit in, you can see screens everywhere-one for the dashboard, one for the central control, and one for the passenger seat. It feels like you are sitting in the cockpit of a science fiction movie. But what broke me the most was that most of the physical keys were gone! Air conditioning, volume, and even driving mode all have to be poked on the screen. Although the reaction is quite quick and the voice control can understand the vague command such as "I'm a little hot", I still feel a little panicked when I want to do blind exercises while driving. However, the seats are comfortable and have a lot of space. The three adults in the back row will not be able to fight. The trunk is more than enough for two 28-inch suitcases-don't forget that there is still the hydrogen fuel system stuffed under the back seat. It's already amazing.

Drive it up-it's so quiet that people doubt life

Pressing on the "switch"(well, it actually burns hydrogen, but it relies on the electric motor), and the car slid out silently. That level of quietness is even more excessive than that of ordinary electric vehicles, because the hydrogen fuel cell system itself produces almost no mechanical noise, only an extremely faint compressor buzzing sound. 0-60 The mile acceleration is about a little over 6 seconds. It's not violent, but it's enough for daily overtaking. The suspension is soft and swings like a boat through the speed bump. This car is obviously not used for bending-it is more suitable for leisurely cruising, listening to the music and sighing,"The earth is still saved." The only thing that annoys me is the feel of the brake foot. The first half is too empty, and the second half suddenly becomes tight. It takes some time to get used to it.

Energy replenishment-hydrogen refueling for five minutes and a battery life of 600 kilometers?

This is probably Nexo's biggest selling point-and its biggest pain point. Officials claim that the battery life exceeds 600 kilometers (EPA standard) and that it only takes 5 minutes to fill up hydrogen, which is much faster than charging. Sounds perfect, right? But the reality is: Are there hydrogen refueling stations around you? In the city where I live, the nearest hydrogen refueling station is a 40-minute drive away, and it's not sure if hydrogen is available. Hyundai said that there will be more than 100 new hydrogen refueling stations across the United States in 2026, but looking at the sparse distribution now, I suggest you check the map before buying it. But if you live in California or South Korea, the experience is really great-you can "refuel" as quickly as possible and enjoy the moral superiority of zero-carbon emissions.

Summary-is it more future than electric vehicles, or is it more useless?

After driving this Nexo, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are indeed technological miracles-high energy density, fast energy replenishment, and only drainage. On the other hand, poor infrastructure makes it more like an expensive toy (expected to start at $60,000). If you have a charging station at home, buying a Model Y may be more worry-free. But if you just want to be the greenest and most distinctive person in your circle of friends, and the hydrogen refueling station is right next door to your house-then this car is tailor-made for you. Hyundai has made a beautiful, sophisticated and technologically mature hydrogen SUV, but it will take the entire ecosystem ten to eight years to catch up. I admire its courage, but I won't pay for it for the time being.
