Saab is a pioneering Swedish carmaker whose origins trace back to the development of aircraft and military vehicles. Its first production car was a small teardrop shaped two-door sedan with front-wheel drive and a two-stroke engine and was named the Model 92. Subsequently, Saab gradually developed larger and more innovative models such as the 900 Turbo, and eventually shared the platform with General Motors. For example, the 9-3 sedan is a representative of this cooperation. The brand is known for being slightly eccentric, well-designed, and positioned slightly higher than ordinary brands, and has made many breakthroughs in the fields of turbocharging technology and vehicle safety. Despite its best efforts, Saab often ran into financial difficulties and eventually became a part of the group after General Motors bought a 50% stake in the company in 1989 and bought the remaining stake in 2000. In 2010, GM sold Saab to Swedish supercar manufacturer Spyker, which itself fell into financial crisis after the acquisition, and Saab eventually came to an end in 2012.
