Saturn

From 1991 to 2010, Saturn was the brand launched by General Motors in an effort to regain market share lost to cheap, compact Japanese imports in the 1980s. Saturn was impressive when it came on stage, thanks to its "buy it out" pricing strategy and the compact SL sedan with dent-resistant plastic body panels. Later, Saturn successively launched the Vue crossover, Ion compact and Sky convertible, but eventually came to an end due to poor sales. Saturn was put up for sale when General Motors filed for bankruptcy, but the brand's fate was sealed when the deal with Penske Group fell through.
