VF9

Though the brand remains a bit of an apparition in the U.S., Vietnamese-based EV automaker Vinfast continues to forge ahead on a global scale. Key to that mission is the VF9, a three-row, dual-motor electric SUV intended to compete with the Kia EV9 and the Rivian R1S. The VF9 is the brand’s second model to hit the market in the U.S. following the two-row VF8. Eager to make a good impression out of the gate, VinFast enlisted vaunted Italian design firm Pininfarina to style the VF9. Available in two trims, Eco and Plus, the interior design is contemporary but favors function over flash. Standard features include a heated driver’s seat, a 15.6-inch infotainment display, and head-up display. Power output from the dual-motor powertrain is 402 horsepower, and the EPA has certified the VF9 Eco for a maximum of 330 miles of range and the Plus for 290 miles. Currently, the VF9 is assembled in Vietnam, and is only on sale in 16 states. However, the company's plans to build a production facility in North Carolina are still in play, and its sales footprint could grow if and when the plant comes online at a still undetermined date.
