Pickup Trucks

Most Affordable Trucks

Car and Driver's ranking is based on the results of large-scale instrument testing of hundreds of vehicle models every year, as well as the subjective feelings of our senior editors in real road driving. When we selected the best pickup truck, we referred to approximately 200 data points, covering acceleration performance, handling, comfort, cargo space, fuel economy, cost performance and driving pleasure. We are very strict about rankings because we want you to have a comprehensive understanding of every car you are interested in.

How We Rank

Car and Driver's ranking is based on our large-scale professional test data on hundreds of cars every year, as well as the subjective feelings accumulated by senior editors in driving on real road conditions. We select the cheapest pickup trucks based on the manufacturer's recommended retail price (MSRP) of each model and rate each car based on approximately 200 data dimensions (covering acceleration performance, handling performance, comfort, container space, fuel economy, cost performance, and driving pleasure). These pickups all start at less than $45,000.
