We are strict about rankings because we want you to have a comprehensive understanding of the models you are interested in.

How We Rank

The scoring and ranking of Car and Driver are derived from the extensive instrument testing results we conduct on hundreds of cars every year, as well as the subjective feelings accumulated by our expert editors in real driving. Our vehicle scores cover approximately 200 data points, including acceleration, handling, comfort, cargo space, fuel efficiency, value for money and driving pleasure. This list includes all trucks with a traction capacity of 10,000 pounds or more, ranked from highest to lowest for maximum traction. Click "Learn More" to compare the specific traction capabilities of each vehicle. Please note: Although some electric trucks appear on this list due to their excellent maximum traction, it should be clear that their traction range is significantly lower than that of traditional fuel models.
