Car and Driver's rankings are based on data from numerous instrument tests we perform on hundreds of models each year, as well as subjective feelings accumulated by our expert editors during actual driving. We selected the best pickup truck based on approximately 200 data points covering acceleration, handling, comfort, cargo space, fuel economy, cost-effectiveness and driving pleasure. We are strict about rankings because we want you to have a comprehensive understanding of every car you are interested in.

The ranking of Car and Driver is based on the results of extensive instrument testing of hundreds of cars every year, as well as the subjective feelings accumulated by our senior editors during driving on real road conditions. We selected the safest trucks based on data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and then rated each truck based on approximately 200 indicators, including acceleration performance, handling performance, comfort, cargo space, fuel economy, Value for money and driving pleasure. We have a very strict attitude towards rankings because we want you to have a comprehensive understanding of every car you are interested in. This list includes all trucks that have won the 2025 IIHS "Highest Safe Choice" award.
