Hybrid vehicles come in many forms, ranging from cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, MPVs to sports cars. Some models focus on energy and fuel efficiency, while others use the combination of gasoline and electricity to significantly improve performance. Faced with so many hybrid models on the market, it is not easy to distinguish which are just mediocre and which are truly outstanding. Because of this, we have conducted comprehensive and rigorous testing on almost all hybrid models.
Car and Driver's ranking is based on two aspects: first, the extensive instrument test data we conduct on hundreds of vehicles every year, and the second, the subjective feelings accumulated by our expert editors when driving under real road conditions. We selected the best hybrid model based on approximately 200 data points such as acceleration, handling, comfort, cargo space, fuel economy, cost performance and driving pleasure. We are extremely strict about rankings because our goal is to give you a comprehensive understanding of every car you are interested in.
